Energy consultations for low-income households

The main objective of the project was to enable a complimentary and professional energy consultation for low-income households and families, which are at risk of poverty.

From 2011 to 2014, 991 households have been advised within the framework of the project “energy consultations for low-income households”. The three federal states Styria (239 consultations), Vorarlberg (252 consultations) and Vienna (500 consultations) participated in the activities. Heating and electricity costs were discussed and explained and energy saving potentials were analysed. Certain tips and advices concerning efficient user behaviour were given for lowering the energy demand. Additionally, some kind of “goody-bags” with LED-lights, kettles, timers, etc. were given to the households. In case of urgency, big devices like refrigerators or washing machines were also changed.

The Energy Agency Styria was responsible for the evaluation of the consultations and for authoring the final report for the Austrian Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection.

The final report could be found here.
